Hi folks,
I've got my original DVD with LOTR2 and the funny russian translation in MPEG4 format and would like to merge the video from DVD and audio from MPEG4. I've prepared all the components: the very long M2V file, the very long WAV file (will code to AC3 later) and try to mux them with IFO Edit. Everything works excellent except the resulting movie length. All the programs (PowerDVD, DVD Shrink & others) tell me that the movie length is 2hr 17min, while it should be 2hr 51min!
I've also tried to make a 5 mins example. I took an original DVD, extracted 5 mins fragment with DVD Shrink, demuxed it with VOB Edit (to get M2V), cut 5 mins from russian WAV - and muxed M2V and WAV with IFO Edit. DVD Shrink said the fragment lenght was 5 mins, sound editor cut 5 mins from audio - and the muxed VOB length became... you guess 5 mins? No, 4 mins! PowerDVD, DVD Shrink - all the programs tell about 4 mins!!! No audio/video desynchronization, everything plays fine - but 4 mins.
Then I tried to mux the same files with DVDlab. It shows that the video length is 4(!!!) mins, audio lenght - 5 mins, and the resulting VOB is... 5 mins. No video/audio desynchronization as well, but the length is 5 mins, like is supposed to be.
Of cause, I would mux all the movie with DVDlab - but it does not support second audio stream and subtitles, but I'd like to keep an english sound/subs. I'm too lazy to learn cool DVD authoring programs like Scenaris cause I am not going to use them again - just one time. Then the easiet way to author (I do not need any menus, just movie) my DVD is IFO Edit. And it works well except movie length.
I believe the problem is somewhere around a frame rate. The original DVD is NTSC, and if you divide 5 by 4 you can find it's equals to 2hr 51mins divided by 2hrs 17mins and equals to... 29.97 / 23.796, the frame rates for NTSC.
I beleve that to fix the movie length bug I've to do the very easy step - just fix this rate. But how? I don't know. Please, help me out, I'm just one step from my Big Prize!!!
