I have authored a few films for a company that occasionaly does foreign language movies. Recently they reported that some customers have been complaining that the subtitles are not coming up by default! Does anyone know if this is just an inconsistancy with certain players, or should I be using GPRMs to ensure display. The client is reluctant to include an extra menu with a subs on/off button. Thanks in advance

That's normal, at least in scenarist. You can set it up in the pre cmd to have it come on when the movie is played.

What's weird about it, is that most players are displaying them by default! Oh well, I'll chuck in the pre-commands to be safe. Cheers mate.

Or if you are using a sst script, change where it says non-forced to forced. As far as the players go I guess it must be in the settings, because all mine are off by default.

I'm getting same trouble like Clown shoes.

My problem is that when I push the subtitle button on a remote controller, The dispalay always shows up " Invalid".
I guess it must show up a exact language code like "English".
How can I avoid this problem ?
Most of DVD titles with subtitles show up a exact language code.

I guess Changing non-forced to forced means SetSTN subpicture=1:OFF command doesn't work any more.

I made sure the problem is coming from seamless link between
a cell without subtiles and a cell with subtitles.

Don't do that !!!

After I changed to PGC link, the problem is solved.

changing nonforced to force is for button over video.
if you want certain subtitle to appear by default you have to use command

In the setup of some/most DVD-players you can select your default language! I know my Sony DVD player has this option.
