View Full Version : Small final DVD problems with Big 3

Hello!
I own a movie here that I was making a backup of. I ripped in DIF4U the default VTSes and PGCs that came up. There were 2 VTSes, the first being the main movie (VTS01), and the second being some extras (VTS02). There are 7 PGS in the extras VTS, and by default it chose 1-4, and 7 because of their size. The other ones were under the MB threshold that I set.
Now, everything went well, and when I got to the RA stage, I unchecked the extras VTS so it wouldn't be re-encoded. I do not want extras so I just encoded VTS 1, the main movie. I then authored it, did the scenarist step and now the IFO stage is where I get stuck.

So now my original \Movie\VIDEO_TS folder contains stuff that wasn't ripped, and the \Movie\0\VIDEO_TS folder contains the Scenarist files. In the scenarist directory, there is in fact a VTS_02_1.vob file, but it's very small and probably a dummy....should I copy this file to the final DVD folder? or just the VTS_01 VOBS?

I ran IFOUpdate with these settings:
"Transfer VTS_C_ADT Table"
"Copy color table in each PGC"
"Autocorrect VTS sectors"
"Autoanalyze original IFO"

Now this is where the problem occurs. I have tried a lot of combinations of IFOs to update because I just can't get it to work. My final DVD product isn't working correctly (menu won't load on one combination, then at one point the main movie won't load, etc...).
I have tried updating just the VTS01 IFO file, both, and just the second one. Any ideas? I think there were some communication problems between the programs along the way because of ripping VTS 02 and then unchecking it in RA.

Thanks!

hmmm...as previously stated, the DoItFast4U, DoCCE4U & ReAuthorist method of back-up is intended for complete DVDs, not movie only.
if you start stripping things it can produce inconsistencies.
there is a quote by trilight that goes
"do not invoke DVD strangeness"
and it is directly related to stripping content.
unless you know enough about your dvd structure to safely remove an item without causing playback problems, then, put simply "you shouldnt"
that being said, there are a number of tools avaliable to achieve a movie only back-up utilising cce to encode and may be a wiser choice in this circumstance.

Hello Jel. Thank you for your reply. You are correct...I do think I will have to work with another guide/method. Is the IFOEDIT, and CCE guide the one you were referring to?

Thanks again.

You could also strip out the extras with ifoedit or titlesetblanker. Then make a new image with these files with imgtools, then mount that image.the do to the dif4u part and go on as normal.
