annoying thumbnail

Does anyone know a way to disable the video thumbnail in w2k when you are using explorer? You know the thing on the far left of the screen? I know the easy way is to change to "classic folder" under folder options. What I would like to do is disable just the video and still be able to see web page and picture thumbnails.
The reason is I think media player ties up my directshow filter. Its really annoying.
I am happy to change my registry or whatever.
