I have a question. Since xvid went beta and RC I've had problems decoding some of the stuff I encoded using alpha versions, specificly the one released last June (24/06 it think), I'm getting corrupted keyframes, which means it goes a bit psychidelic until the next correct keyframe. I stuck it out hoping it would be fixed but it hasn't been. Can't remember what setting I used when I made the encode, but you can bet I used GMC, chroma motion and a couple of B frames, but probably not qpel, or packed bitstream.

When I play it back using the decoder I have on CD-R from last June, it works fine, but uninstalling and reinstalling xvid codec versions repeatedly is a lot of hastle...

Three possiblities:

Your resolution is not mod16: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=70404

You used interlacing with GMC and/or b-frames (also b0rked in alpha builds).

Something else - cut a small portion of the video and send it to syskin at ihug.com.au

Res is mod 16 (640x480)
Yes, since the source is interlaced I'd imagine I used GMC and interlacing.

I can send you a clip but I can't guarantee the artifacts will occur for you, in fact they always occur in different places for me, which I find very strange.

Yes, it's dev-api-3 (XviD0009) and it's gmc-ed and it's interlaced. That didn't work in dev-api-3.

The funny thing is, ffdshow seems to decode that. I wonder why.

My version of ffdshow decodes everything as green blobs, so I can't really compare.
