Microsoft managed this too with windows media, there were similar news to windows media. It's looks like we have two real security specialists here :o, I mean it's only compressed video files

Well when it comes to real this is not a good thing. But it is not as bad as what Microsoft does. Using ASF I can direct any player that plays the file to autorun a URL with an infected binary. And it does not even prompt the user last I knew. Further I don't have to use special tools. Windows Movie Maker 2 offers this as a feature of it's UI. The real advantage is with open source software. Anyone can fix the problem. And Real with the Helix project has a leg up. Microsoft has no such luck. And they have no such interest. So all I can say is that the guys at Real better get cracking.
