Hi
Anyone got any suggestions on how I might go about (or even if its possible) Sticking the DTS soundtrack from Bruce Almighty (NTSC) Into The PAL (non DTS) Version.
A quick calculation I did using framerates and times makes me think the films are exactly the same length.
Im OK using most tools scenarist ifoedit cce etc but thats just stripping and sticking back together.
So Im not looking for advice on how to gain space to add the stream but what I need to do to adjust the length of the audio stream,IF thats what I have to do.

ANY IDEAS?

Bruce Almighty, being a film, was shot at 24 frames per second.

For NTSC the movie is slowed down to 23.976 frames per second [and then the video is padded (pulldowned) to attain 29.97 fps]. This means that the movie (including audio) is slightly longer than at the cinema (23.976 vs 24).

For PAL the movie is sped up to 25 fps. So the movie (including audio) is ~4 percent shorter than at the cinema (25 fps vs 24).

So you see the audio lengths are different. You'd need to convert to wav and change the audio length (compact it, and maybe apply pitch correction), and then convert back to DTS (and is there even a DTS software encoder?). So sounds like a bad idea to me.

Cheers again Matthew

SOUNDS LIKE A BAD IDEA TO ME TOO!

I had been toying with the idea, and had made up my mind that if it wasnt going to be easy I wasnt going to bother. (Hoping there might have been a one click program to do it for me!)

My main reason for giving it a go was I backed up the Pal version at xmas, and now have recieved a backed up NTSC with DTS (I LUV MY DTS)but the NTSC video stream is a bit C**P.
