Hello! I know you guys are probably tired of answering IFOupdate questions now, but I have been looking around the forums, and there are a lot of different methods. I don't think I am the first to say that the method described in the guide is a little vague when it comes to settings in the IFOupdate step, and is just a little confusing.

First, let's assume that I ripped the entire movie with DIF4U (every VTS and PGC checked). I then selected only the movie in ReAuthorist, clicked on "author it", encoded JUST the movie file that I had selected in ReAuthorist, waited about 9 hours to finish, opened up Scenarist and made my output.
So now I have a folder /0/VIDEO_TS with all of my Scenarist files, and /VIDEO_TS with all of the original ones.

So (finally) my first question is this: Can I just move everything from the /VIDEO_TS directory to the /0/VIDEO_TS directory and just say "NO" to the over-write message that comes up? That way only the files that I don't have will get moved?

Secondly, what settings to I check/uncheck in IFOUpdate? I know by default, "Copy Audio and Subpicture Tables" & "Autoanalyze original IFO" are checked by default. Do I uncheck any of these? Which options do I add?

Third, do I run IFOUpdate on ALL the IFOs because I had checked them all originally in the first DIF4U step? Or do I run it on ONLY the main movie IFO since that is the only one that I encoded?

And finally, do I run "Correct VTS Sectors" on every IFO that needs updating immediately after I run an update on it, or just on the last one that I do after each individual one has been updated?

Thank you for your time reading this and any answers you may have.

:)

yes but it would be a better habit to get into only moving the .vob files of the vts' that you need to update (it will get you in the habit of remembering which .ifos to update in the next step.
Secondly, what settings to I check/uncheck in IFOUpdate? I know by default, "Copy Audio and Subpicture Tables" & "Autoanalyze original IFO" are checked by default. Do I uncheck any of these? Which options do I add? check out Eyes`Onlys' guide to 'finding nemo' he explains a bit about the settings...but you need to know when to select/deselect each one. check the help file for ifoupdate, as jdobbs explains what each function is. personally i dont select the 'region free' setting as i have already removed the region protection when i ripped with dvddecrypter.Third, do I run IFOUpdate on ALL the IFOs because I had checked them all originally in the first DIF4U step? Or do I run it on ONLY the main movie IFO since that is the only one that I encoded? you update every ifo that you have altered/encoded. in typical circumstances you would only be updating the ifos for the vobs you have re-encoded. however owing to the fact that you have stripped everything else (not recommended) you will have to update all ifos. And finally, do I run "Correct VTS Sectors" on every IFO that needs updating immediately after I run an update on it, or just on the last one that I do after each individual one has been updated? select 'auto-correct vts sectors (when updating)' in the options tab and you should be right....you can always verify after in ifoedit and run a get vts sectors to be safe.

Personally, I just use NuMenu to do my IFOUpdate stuff now. It's pretty much idiot-proof and it moves the correct scenarist-created files to your DIF4U-created VIDEO_TS directory. The default settings that NuMenu uses for IFOUpdate usually work unless you want to do ACM or something like that...then you'll have to select that option instead of standard in NuMenu. Also a tip if you're going to use NuMenu; it automatically selects "Region Free" as an option but it's annoying because you have to select your region for every IFO, so what I do is de-select that option in all the IFOs and manually region free w/ IFOEdit afterwards. It's quicker and easier that way.
