Hi All,

i'm using the Big 3 and i am just getting started with them. I got a movie and i dont want to miss out on the audio tracks of it, especially not the bonus tracks. unfortunately, all audiotracks together are already 1.71GB, i was able to decide to throw the DTS track off, since i cant use it anyways, leaves still 1.1GB of audio.
Can i somehow change the bitrate of the bonus audio tracks from 192kbps to 128kbps? Those are 2 Channels, Audio Commentaries, so i figured, it wouldnt be too noticeable if i drop the quality there.

I guess i can just take an audio-conversion tool to do that, but how can i have the *edited* audio tracks being added without having to play with the menues and all?

Thx for any help ;)

hi and welcome to the forums,
for a discussion on reducing audio bitrates (pros and cons and tools to use) you can check out this thread as a place to start.
Any way to compress audio tracks? (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=68474&highlight=audio) although for a more indepth discussions you might want to check out the audio forum (if you havent already).
but how can i have the *edited* audio tracks being added without having to play with the menues and all?
simple!
rename your downsampled audio tracks to what the originally muxed ones were and replace the originals (might want to keep a copy of them just in case) and import your new audio into their correct streams in scenarist (note: you will have to be consistent in downsampling ALL audio - of a particular stream - within every pgc of a vts ).
after you have compiled your project, you may have to manually edit the ifo to correct the sampling rate it shows - i am not sure if ifoupdate will do this for you or not.

hope that helps

Why do I get the feeling this is the extended edition of one of the LOTR movies.

Bear in mind that (192-128) * 4 = 256, so that's how much your average video bitrate will increase. Is it worth it given the reduced audio quality and hassle is a good question to ask.

Personally I just ditched the 2nd and 3rd commentary tracks, which are apparently rather dry anyway...for both movies.

i Hope i can do something good to the special dvds ;) i want those too ;))

Besides, the vid quality is pretty good, so its good enough ;)
