When authoring DVD, can I use mp3 audio? With ifoedit i can use mp3 as audio, but is te resulting vob compatible with every dvd players?

Nope, MP3 audio is not DVD-compliant. See here (http://www.dvddemystified.com/dvdfaq.html#3.6).
