This problem is probably because of your asian windows version. I have similar problems (faulty dialog design) when I try to run japanese programs.
Saying that I don't really know what you could do, maybe the xvid devels can fix it, its certainly no vdub issue.
Maybe you could also turn the language setting of windows to english.
Cheers

(Moving this to xvid, maybe someone there knows a better fix.)

Microsoft admits that it is a bug of windows(!). Though they don't offer any better fix than setting the locale to English, after that the dialogs are as epected.

eh, just a small suggestion. Though its a windows bug, maybe there could be two versions of XviD... or a checkbox so user can switch between japanese/chinese/whatever and english windows.

Thank you Koepi. I can see "packed bitstream" since XviD 1.0 Beta3.
I use Koepi's XviD-1.0-RC2-07022004.exe.
My os is WindowsXP Sp1a Japanese Version.

I used a resource editor too.
I used Resource Hacker.
Koepi's XviD 1.0RC2(xvidvfw.dll) uses "MS Sans Serif" and "Font 8 points".
With Resource Hacker I changed "MS Sans Serif" to "MS Shell Dlg" ,and "Font 8" to "Font 9".
The dialog of "MS Shell Dlg" and "Font 8 points" has small characters.
For me the dialog of "MS Shell Dlg" and "Font 9 points" is better.
In WinXP Japanese Version, I think "MS Shell Dlg" and "Font 9 points" is better choice.
I don't have another language version, so I don't know this choice is right one for all versions.
Microsoft's "MS Shell Dlg" explanation.

Here are two images(locale Japanese).
"MS Shell Dlg" and "Font 9 points"

BTW
VirtulDubMod 1.5.4.1(build 2178/release) uses "MS Shell Dlg" and "Font 8" points.
