Who has some experience in this? I'm looking for people willing to write a guide on how to get digital content from your settop box to your PC, as part of an upcoming series of DVB guides.
I don't have a settop box capable of this so I can't do it myself.

most of the time simply the .ts (transport stream similar to .pva) is transfered to the pc usually via lan, some boxes use USB 2.0 for instance the latest Topfield (very popular for their twin tuner boxes). Once it's demuxed successfully with Project X or PVAStrumento it's in a common format many programs can handle and there shouldn't be a big difference compared to recording with a card

I'm very :confused: !

Trying to decide what to buy and what not. I have a Force 1145S (I think it's called). No way of getting a decoded digital signal onto my computer.
Should I get a card with PCMCIA slot for a CAM? Or can I somehow connect my sat-box to a "cheaper solution" card?

* I haven't bought anything yet (except for the satbox which i've had for a while)

I know that some decoders (like nokia 9600) have a SCSI connection but I really don't know how to use it. I think there will need a special software for recording from that.

I have 1 LNB IN and 1 LNB OUT. What's the LNB OUT for??

Can I rip anything from it?

If I buy a SAT TV card with 1 PCMCIA slot in, which CA/CI? module would be best for both conax and viasat??

I know decoding of channels aren't allowed, but you can actually get a decoding card for free* for some of our channels on Conax !

* Meaning LEGAL ;) :rolleyes:

It's very easy: you need a SCSI controller in the PC (Adaptec 2940-UW recommended) and the program DVBRecorder. It can capture either in separate Audio/Video files, or in multiplexed MPEG stream.

Can you also extract the recorded subtitle streams (subpictures or teletext)?

I don't think so, at least not using DVBRecorder. Probably it's possible with other capture programs, but I'm not sure.
