I'm trying to fix an ASF file so I can convert it to VCD.

I believe I need to convert it to avi before TMPGEnc will accept it. My efforts in doing this have all failed:
-Graphedit
-Stoik VideoPak (freezes at frame 22284)
-Virtualdub via AviSynth (locks up at frame 22284)
-old version of Virtualdub (locks up at frame 22284)
-AviDefreezer

Note: Windows Media Player displays an error at frame 22284. Using the slider bar, I can scan past the bad frame and then resume playing the file.

Please send me more options to try.

there was a discussion on this here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=68038&highlight=asf)

basically search for Asftools on google which has quite alot of options for recovery unless your asf uses wmv method of compression - what that means exactly I don't know - I stear well clear of asf.

I did find a solution. I downloaded the trial version of video fixer (www.video-fixer.com). It fixed the file so I could use AviSynth to frameserve to Virtualdub.
