Hello. I've spent a week or so trying to figure this out. What I want to do is take a regular 2 channel stereo song and reencode it into a 5.1 format, which a standalone DVD player will play. Am I just dreaming, or is this possible. I've looked at guides by Eye of Horus and SurroundBoy, and I've tried following them to the letter.
I did manage to encode a 5.1 wav using BeSweet, but when I played it back in WMP9 it was just static. Eye of Horus' guide using Plogue Bidule gives me an 6 channel WAV, which I can then encode to AC3, but I need to know what then to do with the AC3 file. I don't want to merge it with a video clip, I just want to listen to it in my surround system. I really wanted to figure this out without posting, but maybe this will be useful to others who want to do this...Any help is appreciated.

U may author it a dvd-video using a black bmp as your video. There r some threads about it.

Ok. That makes sense. I just never thought of it that way.
I will try it this weekend :)

I have downloaded EzConverter a week ago. It has a function of changing .cda files to says .wav files, but I tried many of the different formats (you have to select), it keeps on saying it is invalid and will not allow to convert. If you know which "quality" I should select, please let me know.
