View Full Version : weird problem with XviD 1.0-RC1 and VDubMod

I noticed this problem last night, and while I can't say for sure if it's something with VDubMod or Xvid, I figured I'd start here and see if anyone's experienced this before. If I encode from .avs to .avi in VDubMod with XviD, for some reason it tries to encode the wrong number of frames, and it's the same wrong number every time. Since it's more than the .avs I first tested with I got a bunch of pure black frames at the end. If I switch to Divx, it works just fine. If I use XviD with AVS2AVI, it works just fine. I'm stumped. I tend to encode a lot of files at once, and use DubMan to set up the .jobs file. But if I can't use VDubMod for my encoding it's going to be a bit on the annoying side :)

any thoughts?

Check if in your Xvid settings there are more than 1 consecutive B-VOPS.

If so, and the frame difference is of 1-3 frames less than expected, it's a known problem of VDubMod, I've experienced this too and some other people does.

So I can say that for now there isn't a solution, just wait fot the bug to be fixed!

In the meantime, use AVS2AVI

It is set for more than 1 consecutive B-frame, but the difference is waaaaay more than 2 or three frames. I try to encode a short little 8500-frame clip, and when I go to save the encoding job the status window says 63000 and change.

well vdub(mod) >= 1.5.10 has problems regarding job control

have you tried without job control?
you may also want to try an earlier version, namely 1.5.4.1

Same thing happens if I just start the job direct from the Save As window
