Hi and welcome to the Doom9 board!!!
At first I thought something like "the firmware will be available from the homepage for sure, why isn't he able to find it for himself?"
After looking for it I have to admit that Liteon makes it as hard as possible to find the firmware.
While it is no problem finding it on www.liteon.com, they tell you to go to www.liteonit.com to download it, and this is where it starts to get really crappy!!
Choosing PC drives from the menu will bring you to a chinese news-page, with the "English"-button not working!!
I had to manually change the language in the URL to be able to read the page...
Here it is, the
(crappy) homepage (http://www.liteonit.com/ODD/english/english-load-firmware.htm)
and here is the firmware-update:
Firmware-Update (http://www.liteonit.com/ODD/webfw/LDW-811S/DR8HS0K.zip)
(You got the LDW-811S, right?)
Hope this help!

By the way: If you ever want to play something not from the region you are from:
Have a look here... (http://forum.firmware-flash.com/dl_firmware.php?category=4&manufactor=17)

The best way to test if the drive works as it should is probably to get yourself a DVD 5 (a DVD with the same capacity as blank DVDs - you can find a list here (http://www.afterdawn.com/tools/dvd_layer_browse.cfm?layer_format=5)), then rip it to an iso-image with DVDDecrypter and burn this image straight away...
If it works, the drive obviously works fine...

Good luck!! :D

Sorry, no clue what you mean...
Please try DVDInfoPro (http://www.dvdinfopro.com/) and tell us what it reports your drive to be...

In the meantime, I entered "liteon oem firmware" into google, and it came up with that:
club.cdfreaks.com (http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=81375)
I think the second post by dhc014 may be of interest to you...
Edit: By the way: If anything goes wrong with updating, please don't blame me! :D
2. Edit: I just continued to read the thread:
So far I've heard of one person using this firmware on their retail LDW-811S. After the flash, the drive no longer recognized any discs.

I don't recommend that anyone with a retail drive use this firmware...
You should be absolutely sure what you do before apply this update...

It seems that we have someone with a drive similar to yours:
cdfreaks (http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?threadid=81715)
Maybe you should try to contact mbriody prior to updating?
I will go back to work now, I've probably already caused enough confusion...
Good luck again! :D
