hi,
iīm in some trouble with a language menu. it appears before the main menu and with it you can change the language of the root menu where you select the main movie.
iīve read some guide from 2cool (thx for it) but i still canīt solve my problem. i know i can remove the menu with "remove playback" but after this the root menu ever starts in english and not in my desired language.
menu edit reports the following command
g[15] = 1, LinkTailPGC (button 0)
the menu has the following command table
[000000ec] Number of Pre Commands 7 [0007]
[000000ee] Number of Post Commands 17 [0011]
[000000f0] Number of Cell Commands 0 [0000]

i donīt relay understand what happens! after pressing the button g15 is set to 1. the post command compares the value in g15 and therefore set g13 and g14 to different values (the one for the correct language). i donīt know if i understand it right....
perhaps someone can give me some hints (understanding the commands/ how to solve my problem). can i remove the menu and just add a new command to another menu to tell the dvd to play the root menu in my language. the other way could be to change the commands in the way to play the root menu directly without language menu...
unfortunaley at this moment iīve no idea how to realize this..
thx for any help...

@awe007
the other way could be to change the commands in the way to play the root menu directly without language menu...
How about trying this. Use MenuEdit and see what your language menu's buttons correspond to.
2.Pre Command If GPreg<0> == (cmp-val)<25966> then (LinkPGN) Link Program 1, [button=1][20 a6 00 00 65 6e 04 01 ]
3.Pre Command If GPreg<0> == (cmp-val)<26226> then (LinkPGN) Link Program 1, [button=3][20 a6 00 00 66 72 0c 01 ]
4.Pre Command If GPreg<0> == (cmp-val)<26996> then (LinkPGN) Link Program 1, [button=4][20 a6 00 00 69 74 10 01 ]
5.Pre Command If GPreg<0> == (cmp-val)<25701> then (LinkPGN) Link Program 1, [button=2][20 a6 00 00 64 65 08 01 ]
6.Pre Command If GPreg<0> == (cmp-val)<25971> then (LinkPGN) Link Program 1, [button=5][20 a6 00 00 65 73 14 01 ]
With the button of your choce go to Pre Command 1. Hexedit by double clicking on line and inputting the new values for the desired button.

hi 2cool,
thx for the help but i donīt understand what you mean...looks like iīm a little bit confused
the button i press for my language is
button2
5.Pre Command If GPreg<0> == (cmp-val)<25701> then (LinkPGN) Link Program 1, [button=2][20 a6 00 00 64 65 08 01 ]
unfortunaley i dont understand this complete command. i thought gp 14 and gp 15 are the values for the menu and not gp0...
perhaps youīre so kind to explain the meaning of this command...
i tried something different but it doesnīt work. i found the command for the link to the pre language menu
[000000f4] 1.Post Command (LinkPGCN) Link PGC 4 [20 04 00 00 00 00 00 04 ]
i changed it to 51 where why german menu ist stored...ok that works..but when i press main movie in that menu the player ends...looks like thereīs a problem when leaving out commands from the language menu..:-((
thx for your help...
added: hi just played around with settings...i replaced pre command 1-6 with just "nop"...but there no effect...i thought when doing this you can press a button but nothing happens....now im realy confused about the meaining of these commands...
thx

Your first precommand is currently checking the value of GPreg<0> and this should determine what menu to display when used for the following pre commands . Did you try hexediting only Pre Command #1 as I proposed? Do you know how to hexedit a command?
OLD > 1.Pre Command Set GPreg<0> mov SPreg<preferred audio language> [61 00 00 00 00 90 00 00]
NEW > 1.Pre Command Set GPreg<0> mov (set-val)<25701> [71 00 00 00 64 65 08 00]
Save and preview to test after editing.

Can you find out what your button 2's command is? Use MenuEdit or DVDRemake demo. Just provide the hex value.

by the way ...one mistake i made was not to change the still time from 255 (loop) to e.g. 10 sec....with this afters 10 sec the menu disappears but continues wit the default setting which then play the english root menu not the german..
anyway...thx for the quick help and the info with all commands...i think this will help me and perhaps i can solve the problem

This would've fix your default English menu from starting. If you don't want to blank out your Language menu (Omitting Steps 24 to 29), then I guess 10 seconds gives you some time to click on another language option if you are quick enough. So after 10 seconds, with no selection, your German Menu should display.

Yes, if you had successfully perform Steps 1 to 23, then the 10 secs you inputted instead of 0 in step 21 then, your German Menu should display. The Cell Command I have you inserting in Step 11, will execute your button 2's command automatically, instead of you having to manually select it in the Language Menu.
Again, if you didn't select anything, your German Menu should display. You would have 10 seconds to decide if you want any other menu besides German to display. If you want to do it this way, then in the guide, you can safely skip Steps 24 to 29. These steps are for actual menu removal.

hi 2cool,
the button command as written in menu edit:
g[15] = 1, LinkTailPGC (button 0)
so if i understand it right when pressing the button g15 gets the value "1". but what is the meaning of LinkTailPGC (button 0).
perhaps this gives u an idea what is going on....i very confused by the fact that i deleted all commands except the last post command and the menu still works...
the last comman is (linkpgcn) link pgc 45
ok when i go to pgc-menu_45
thereīs only one command
1.Pre Command (JumpSS VMGM) Jump to VMG PGC: 2 [30 06 00 02 00 c0 00 00 ] actually i dont relay understand the meaning of it...donīt know which jump the command causes..

I've provided the link to your answer on LinkTailPGC.
http://www.dvd-replica.com/DVD/linktailpgc.php?p=1
Did you understand what LinkTailPGC is now? Your button command, in plain talk, is saying...Set Gpreg 15 to a value of 1 and go to the Post Command #1 of this menu's PGC Command Table. Also, no highlighting of buttons is set.
So going back to what you gave on the first page, Post Commands 5 & 6 are checking Gpreg 15 to see if it's value is 1 and since Gpreg 15 has been set to 1, then both of these commands are true. And a true command will be executed. So, since it's true Gpregs 13 and 14 are set accordingly with the different values and these values will, in other commands down the road, will also be compared. If you have any computer programming experience, understanding the logic is very easy. Remember, now only true commands will be executed, even if they are "Set" commands. I have highlighted the ones that have been executed for you.
1.Post Command Set GPreg<13> mov (set-val)<0> [71 00 00 0d 00 00 00 00 ]

perhaps this gives u an idea what is going on....i very confused by the fact that i deleted all commands except the last post command and the menu still works...
the last comman is (linkpgcn) link pgc 45
ok when i go to pgc-menu_45
thereīs only one command
1.Pre Command (JumpSS VMGM) Jump to VMG PGC: 2 [30 06 00 02 00 c0 00 00 ] actually i dont relay understand the meaning of it...donīt know which jump the command causes..Post Command 17 is the only jump command in this PGC Command table. Jump to VMG PGC: 2 means to navigate to Pre Command #1 in VIDEO_TS.IFO / VMGM_PGCI_UT / PGC-Menu_2 / PGC Command Table. Whenever you see VMG (Video ManaGer), it pertains to your VIDEO_TS.IFO.
By the way, we were "working" on doing this guide (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?threadid=67564) on creating a new Cell Command but it seems you have deviated from the game plan and went ahead and NOP'd your commands. What happened? Anyway, here's the translated hex command for your German button, [71 00 0d 0f 00 01 00 0d]. This is what you needed when hexediting that new Cell Command in the guide I mentioned above.

2 cool,
thx for the detailed information. finaly i solved the problem. with the help of the link you provided i was able to get the hex for the set g15=1 command. i inserted this command, blanked the menu and changed the endless loop....the result is a clean an straight way direct to my german menu without any bohtering interruptions.
again thx for help. afters some days the dvd programming language gets clearer. it is just a simple if then else command compared to my first steps in turbo pascal...hehe...the only thing that changed are the commands....
ok...
thx for your help....

@awe007
I'm glad we finally got success on this Language Selection start menu project. After doing a few, it should become alot easier for you now and there's also alot of DVDs out there with dual aspect ratio menus for you to work on, using the guide, to up your proficiency too. ;)

2cool,
thx for the help. as you said it after some other tries on different dvds you get used to it and you should be able to bypass the menu.
iīm following the way you mentioned.
a) search the vobid of the "menu-screen"
b) look which command is executed by pressing a certain button
c) add the command in the pre commands. most of the times youīve only to insert a new store command such as g15=1 and then change the display time from 255 (loop) to lets say one second. moreover i blank out the language menu. the two movies i made with this method work perfectly.
thx for the help....the only problem which now occurs is a sonic scenarist error....looks like thereīs a lot of more work to do...:-((
thx
