View Full Version : Playback of ripped DVD Image skips in the middle of the chapter?

I have been testing this recently on my whole dvd collection since its something that I noticed recently. I have used InstantCopy to rip backups in the past, but mostly just to an image on my hard drive. Then I use Instant Drive to check their playback.

I plan on buying a burner later, but I want to have the process down before that. A few months ago, I had no problems. Images burn clean and well. But just recently i did a complete system wipe and now i cant get any of my movies to copy clean.

I get the same thing about 20min into the movie or so, never the same amount of time. It will skip to the next chapter. It can happen several times throughout the movie and re-imaging never really helps. Most of the time it is in the same exact spot each burn, but not the same spot per movie. It is almost like it hits "weak" spots in the image so it just jumps to the next chapter. I am using the newest version of InstantCOPY in coop with AnyDVD to make the images. But I have also tried DVD Decrypter and DVD SHrink with about the same problem.

Sound familiar to anyone? Any Ideas? As I said this is a fairly new problem, as this wasn't happening before my HDD wipe. I tried installing the newest ASPI layer, but I don't even know if that will do anything. I am fairly new to the DVD scene.

I´ve got similar problems as well.

I´ve made a backup with DVD decrypter to my HDD. PowerDVD plays the DVD perfectly from HDD.
I then use DVD Shrink to burn the movie only to disc using a RICOH DVD+RW drive on my laptop. The burnt DVD plays well with powerDVD on my laptop.

BUT when I play this disc on my standalone LG DAT100 player it sometimes says DISC ERROR right from the start and sometimes it starts playing and skips very often to the next chapter. It plays again for a few seconds then freezes and skips to the next chapter. When I play a disc that was burnt by my brother in law also with DVD Shrink I have no problems ? He used the same type and brand of disc.

I´ve tried to burn the image with DVD Lab and thought my problems were gone but after about 20 min. it starts skipping again.

I already flashed the newest firmware for my RICOH drive without effect.
Since burning with DVDLab or DVDShrink makes very little difference (with DVD lab it plays better though) and the same discs were used by my brother in law and me and my standalone player plays his discs with no problem it should be my DVD drive which maybe is incompatible with my standalone player ?? Or is it a driver related problem ?

I have experienced the same skipping problem with my Lite-on DVD±RW LDW-851S. As far as I know, the backed-up DVD plays using Power DVD and skips when played on standalone, home DVD players. Has anyone found a solution?

Hmm realy skippie.

I've SATA-Drives. What I noticed is this. If You have a AMD System with a VIA chipset in some sw-player sometimes skips some frames. chapterskipping I hadn't. On a Intel System I didn't have this skips anymore. Maybe it was the soundcarddriver.

But your problems I never had. I do dvdcopying since almost 2 years no. this issues are realy new to me!

Did somebody tried Imagetool classic here in this thread?
I noticed that sometimes when I burn this isos with dvddecrypter it doesn't run on my neibours sap. I've a Mustek sap. It eats all!
Burning the isos with nero works always.

My burner is a pioneer a06
