Games not working after Codec Pack

Hi.
I have a quite big problem.
Since i installed the kazaa lite codec pack a few games dont work anymore.
Where the intro movie has to be played there is nothing. Nothing happens. I can only make a reset.

For example Halo or Mafia.
Instead of playing the intro movie the game just freezes. I cant skip it. Nothing.

I somehow think this has something to do with the Kazaa Lite Codec Pack (2.20) which installs the Avi DirectShow Splitter 1.0.3.
I tried to deinstall it but then i get a error message everytime i want to play a AVI.

I'm realy sure that the codec pack is causing the problem. Halo for example worked fine before i installed the codec pack. But right now it freezes when i start it (when the intro movie should accur)

Has anyone got the same problem or does anyone know where i can get the original AVI splitter that comes with WinXP. Or probably even a newer version than 1.0.0.3?

Welcome to the forum. Codec pac's are know to cause problems. Uninstall the pac and install only the codecs you need. ffdshow will allow avi files to show on your computer. Go here (http://www.doom9.org) and do a little reading. It will save you tons of frustration.

Hi.
Thanks for the fast answer.
But as i already said, deinstalling the whole pack causes even more problems.
Everytime i try to play a AVI using BS Player i get a error message with something like the avi file is corrupt and seeking is disabled. Playing the movie however works fine.
I'll try ffdshow tomorrow. Hope it works.
But in case it doesnt: where can i get the original windows built-in AVI splitter?

Ok.
Got it Working now.
I installed ffdshow. That fixed the Halo Problem.
In the case of Mafia i had to do some research. The game uses Indeo 5 for the intro movie. Since the game doesnt install the codec automaticaly i had to do that on my own. Works fine now.

As I said earlier only install the codecs you need. Save yourself some head aches.
