OK, i have some vcds that i wanna put to dvd.Now because of the error ive been getting in authoring programs something to do with the sequeance header and gop being wrong i need to fun the mpgs through a encoder and encode them the same as they are at the mo, but they need to be dvd complient.....
So what settings do i need to use the get them dvd complient ???
remember i want to keep the file the same, just make it compliant.
I have Tmpgenc and CCE.

Master Yoda,
I'm not sure which DVD Authoring program you're using, but if you use TMPGEnc DVD Author, then you might want to ignore it, and see if TDA accept or not. If TDA does not accept it, I usually does this and 99.9% of the time it work for me.
1. Using TMPGEnc, I went to Merge & Cut tab of the MPEG Tool section
2. Import the clip with that long GOP
3. Enter a new name (BTW, you don't have to edit)
4. Hit Run
TMPGEnc will convert the long GOP to a DVD-compliant one. I have tried De-Multiplex and multiplex tool, but TMPGEnc will preserved the long GOP, but when I tried this Merge & Cut, it works. By the way, I'm using TMPGEnc 2.57 Plus version, so I'm not sure other versions work or not.
Cheers,

While your GOP may indeed be a problem, DVD allows for GOPs of up to 18 frames. Several DVD authoring programs incorrectly enforce a limit where GOPs must be 15 frames and they will freak out if they see anything else. DVD Maestro enforces a limit of 15 frame GOPs. Scenarist correctly allows you to have GOPs of up to 18 frames.
VCD uses 44 KHz sound and DVD requires 48 KHz, so don't forget to upsample your audio.
