I'm new to this matroska container format (.mkv) and having trouble finding the best way to convert the .mkv files to Mpeg2 (DVD). My current method is to open the .mkv file in Vdubmod, then save out the video (Xvid codec) as avi. And under the Streams List menu, save out the desired audio stream as OGG. Then using Blaze Media Player to convert the OGG to Wav format. Then take the AVI and WAV into TMPGEnc Plus and convert them to Mpeg2 for DVD. This method works, but requires many steps. I don't need subtitles, just the video and audio. Is there a faster way of doing this? Please help.
Plus, in VDubmod, I can't find any way of saving the audio, seems it only saves video. Am I missing something here? When choosing Save As, there's no audio option, just video. Any ideas why it doesn't save audio? I'm using latest 1.5.10.1.
One more thing, are there any free tools to convert OGG to WAV? I tried BeSweet 1.5b25 but it kept on crashing on me, and I'm just using the command line version, not the GUI. Audio Conversion Wizard and Blaze Media Player work well to convert ogg to wav, but they are not free, I'm using the trial versions. I'm glad Virtualdubmod is free. TMPGEnc Plus is not free, but I gladly paid for it, Just a great tool.
