Need simple MPG to DVD disc

I have many MPG movies I want to write to a DVD disc and play them on my DVD player on the TV.

Most of the software doesnt simply write the thing to disc but =does= things to the MPG first. For example anything longer than say one hour and 45 mins tells me its too long. Thats baloney because the disc has almost 5 gig of space.

Isnt there some way to create like a VIDEO_TS folder and write the MPG file as track01.vob and use something to create a stub IFO or something so it will simply play the MPG.

I mean I dont need menus - I dont need fancy intro screens I just want to watch my stuff on the TV with a DVD. I'm not creating shrink wrap dvd's here just cant believe they all want to take hours and hours to play around with a perfectly good MPG that should be able to be dumped directly to disc as is and played.

I've searched and cant find anything on this just tons about ripping and converting and =doing crap= to the videos which are assumed not already good. Am I the only one who wants this? These MPG's are already GOOD and dont need all sorts of muxing and tickling and shrinking and argh!

TMPGEenc DVD Author is able to convert mpg2 to dvd

That works and so does sonic mydvd or easy cd dvd creator 6 if you dont mind everything in max speed 1:45 time limits.

The problem with all of these is they are recreating an already perfectly good MPG which in all logic should simply be split into 1 gig pieces and dropped onto the disc as is instead of subjecting it to yet another encoding process.

The problem is a DVD vob contains more than just the audio and video of an mpg. At the very least the NAV packs must be added every GOP, and the streams be multiplexed using packs of 2048 bytes. This requires some processing, but no re-encoding unless other constraints, such as bitrate, framerate, and resolution of DVD are not met. So, although it may be a perfectly good mpg, it most likely is not DVD compliant.
One way is to demultiplex the mpg, and then author it.

While a dvd does hold nearly 5 gig of data; for all intents and purposes about all you can put on it is 4.37 gig. Sonic MyDvd likes to expand you audio to lpcm. It is possible you may not have enough room, even with a 45 minute video.
