Have been using BeSure to make DD CDs & they play fine in 5.1 on my newer Sony Receiver (STRDE985) but won't play on my older Sony Receiver (STRDE835)---is their any fix that would make the discs more compatible?? The older receiver plays all DVDs fine in 5.1! Also, is their any program to make 5.1 Digital Dolby AC3 Files be recorded on a DVD burner that will play on any DVD Player in 5.1?? I searched all through the forums & have not found a good answer to these. Thanks, Roger

Hi, and welcome to the forums -
Regarding the amp that doesn't work - there is probably no way to do make it recognize the data as AC3 and not as PCM. Some combinations of CD players and amps just refuse to render the data as anything but PCM, which doesn't work very well on AC3 streams.
For DVD burning - you will probably want to make a DVD-Video, and have some video to accompany the sound. It is common to use still images to save space in these cases. Making an actual DVD-Audio is extremely expensive and you'll need a special player as well. For more info on this technique, use the forum search or see the end of this thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=55971).

Thanks for the reply but I guess I didn't explain my problem correctly--I do know about SADC & DVD Audio Discs. I Do plan on using a still picture along with my Dolby Digital Audio but tried to record the audio as a Digital Dolby wave along with the picture using Ulead VideoSudio 6 & it will only play back as the stream noise not decoded! The program won't let me import 5.1 AC3 files as an audio file (seems to like waves or cda files). I plan on downloading the updates for the Unlead program & hope it will let me import the 5.1 AC3 files then. Do you know of any programs (cheap ones please) that will let me import the 5.1 AC3 track along with a still picture to make a DVD? This is exactly what I need! Being a Electronics Engineer, I have not given up on fixing the problem in my older Sony Receiver--looking into a software or hardware update for it. Thanks, Roger
