Some time ago, one of my brothers downloaded a VCD of Oasis's MTV unplugged. This VCD goes asynch at about half the duration, then returns to normal, only to go asynch again near the end. I read Doom9's guide but I don't have Ulead VideoStudio, plus I find that guide a tad too convoluted. Could you guys tell me where to find a simple and easy to follow guide for fixing this VCD?

My second question revolves around SVCD authoring. I have a couple of DVDs that only have english subtitles. While that's fine with me, I have some acquaintances I want to watch the DVDs with that don't know english, so I want to make SVCD versions of those DVDs with burned subs, menus & chapters.
I figure I can rip the english subs with SubRip, translate then, use SRTtoSSA and then an avisynth plugin to burn the subs. I can then serve the avs to TMPG and make the mpgs. Problem is, I don't know what to do after that. I read the TSCV guide, but it seems that there would be no way include the subtitle burning in between ny of the steps. I also read the VCDEasy guide, but it doesn't tell how to create menus.
I want something simple, like a static screen with "play movie" and "chapter selection" options, then a chapter selection screen with either static or motion thumbnails. So, what do you guys suggest?

For your second question : install DVD2SVCD (http://www.dvd2svcd.org) , put in your DVD, select the video, audio stream and subtitle you want, click "permanent subtitles", configure DVD2SVCD to use TMPGEnc since you already have it... check bitrate, click start, come back a few hours later, and burn your images with permanent subtitles and chapters :) (no menus though).

I tried DVD2SVCD and it doesn't really convince me. Menu making is a dealbreaker, plus I like a bit more control over the process. Also, as I stated in the first post, the subs on the DVD are in english. hat means I have use SubRip, translate the subs and then burn them using an avisynth plugin.

Come on, there has to be something better than DVD2SVCD for what I want to do...
