OK, i could'nt get a vcd mpg to load into scenarist so i decided to try tmpgenc author as it seems easy to use.I load the mpg file into tmpg author and it gives me a error...

A video sequeance header is necessary for every GOP in a standard dvd
The video sequeance header is incorrect

What the hell is going on here... i read all these guides on getting a vcd onto a dvdr, they all say that because a vcd res and mpeg1 is under the dvd standard all you have to do is resample the audio.....
I cant even get the video in the author programs without errors..

This means your MPEG video was not encoded properly to be compliant with DVD standard. Unfortunately, you won't notice any difference between DVD-compliant and non-compliant MPEGs when playing them in any Windows player. I believe the only way around it is to re-encode the video (there are many encoders discussed in the forums). When you do so, also watch out for Closed GOP setting, it's also required for DVD compliance.

HI to all.
I have the same problem with tmpgenc dvd author. I tried to make a dvd with my mpg(pva) files. First i get an illegal video warning, so i demux it with pvastrumento. Then, another warning because the number of gops. But the program give me a "chance to ignore it". Than, a problem with the resolution ( a lot different of the ntsc or pal).

Can anyone give me an idea to resolve it?

Thanks

Some more notes regarding DVD compliance of the MPEG files. GOP length should be maximum 15 for PAL, 18 for NTSC. The resolution of all the video material on the entire DVD must be the same. NTSC standard is 720*480 and also allowed 704*480, 352*480, 352*240, etc. PAL is maximum 720*576; search around for the full list.

In short, the problem is not with the authoring program but with MPEG files not being prepared for DVD properly.

They only have to be the same in the same title set. You can mix and match AR and resolutions across different title sets.

To correct your GOP problems, either get mpeg sequence maker from DVDRHelp, this takes an elementary mpeg1 video stream and adds a sequence header to every GOP, or get Womble's MPGVCR and run your MPG through the GOP Doctor. This will add your sequence headers and attempt to correct the GOP length to DVD specs.
