IFO Edit Errors

:confused: Hi all.

I've been racking my brains since yesterday, trying to figure out what I am doing wrong.

I'll try to keep it simple: After splitting a disk, disk 1 is o.k., but whenveer I try to play Disk 2 I get the following errors:

Get DVD Volume failed.
Get Number of Chapters failed

DVD Warning: Could not open a file on the DVD Disk.

I've searched the forums, the FAQs and the guides and am coming up empty.

Any suggestions woul be very much appreciated.

I've got the expert's attention...Great!

I'm using v 0.96.
The movie I'm splitting is American Pie 2.

I should say that I've got a copy of DVDXCopy Platinum, which I paid a lot of money for..., but the program is very hit and miss. The various programs that are on the net appear to be far superior.

I've been looking at all of the guides I could find, including those written by you. But I haven't seen a solution posted!

Any suggestions, or do you need more specific info?...No doubt you do...

It finally appeared as though Disk 2 had copied O.K., but now for some reason it gets stuck at the FBI screen and won't go any further.

All I have on the Disk in question is part of the main feature movie, the Video TS files and the VTS 0 files, as per the IFOEdit instructions.

Still looking for advice...Please...Anyone?

P.S. Still getting the following warnings:

A file on the DVD Disk could not be opened. Playback may not continue. Sorry for the delayed response! My computer just recently crashed. To answer your question...you didn't copy over or include a needed file. Hence the DVD Warning. Perhaps a missing menu VOB, VIDEO_TS.VOB or VTS_*_0.VOB?

Thanks for your response. I have since had success and finally got Disk 2 to work. No doubt your response was correct, but in retrospect, I am unable to say definitively which one was missing.

I had tried two ways of splitting the original disk.

1. Using DVD Fab ver. 0.17.1.

2. Using Ifo edit ver. 0.96.

What I liked about DVD Fab was the way it put all of the extras on Disk 1. (Of course this is a question of personal preference.)

Disk 1 worked right away, while disk 2 continued to give me all of the errors. I eventually did copy over another File to disk 2, which I had originally thought was not required, but after I did. IFO Edit was much happier with it., giving me only a navigation error.

That error was easy to fix using the various IFO Edit guides, plus another site which dealt specifically wit the navigation error at:

After this, IFO Edit was happy with the file.

I then used IFO Edit to create an Image file and then used DVD Decrypter to write the file to the Disk to my Sony DRX510-UL External DVD writer and ...Voila!

I should also say that I kept using +RW disks, until I finally got it right!

As for an extra boost of confidence, processing through DVD Shrink's analysis phase without getting any errors is a good sign. ;)

You're right. I did use IFOEdit as well to view my results.

"*No valid DVD-Volume found" error when playing back dvd in ifoedit after using dvdshrink 3.1. Plays fine in PowerDVD, and I believe it also will play in set top, and will load in DVD Shrink okay.

Just wondering what this means. Ihave only got it to occur after I have used DVDShrink. There isn't any explanation in any other thread.

In IfoEdit, that just means there isn't a disc loaded/mounted. You can ignore it and go on. It has nothing to do with the movie you're currently working on. ;)

Thanks! Just curious because it has never been a problem. You are correct because after using DVDShrink I have usually taken the DVD out of my drive. I wanted this error to be answered for anyone searching for it.
