thanks mrbass :)
I forgot to mention MenuModder is also free which currently only works with DVDStripper but some sadly some users may have playback issues :(

I'm working on it still as it's only in it's early stages of release but any help or advice would be appreciated by me and the users as I would like to allow MenuModder to work on any ripped DVD ;)

that makes like the 5th forum I had to sign up for over this week-end (DVB soft isn really not as far advanced as is DVD ripping soft) just to download something but you shouldn't complain about a free gift (btw, you might want to see if you can do something about the MIME type of downloads.. zip files are sent as unknown/unknown).
I guess I can go edit that sticky now.

I didn't know you had to be a member to download it :(
I guess it will have more sources soon anyway as it gets about and I'll be uploading it soon hopefully, when I sort out my webspace as it's all messed up :(

I've installed DVDStripper and set paths for everything I can, and yes I'm logged in as admin, the only account on this WinXP machine that has installed every single program on it, and I am still getting a greyed out "Rip using DVDDecrypter" button.
Any suggestions?
EDIT: Never mind, I figured it out - d'oh!
Update: Well now I have finally tried this fabled program, and I must confess that it's actually rather neat. Somehow it did miss out on a trailer on the DVD I tested it with (Amelie), but other than that, it worked well.
It did, however take quite a while to process, compared to a program like Titlesetblanker. Still, it has its advantages. One thing I did note was that a sequence that was selected to be erased never made it to the screen (which was the point) but I did hear like half a second of the audio? Oh well, minor point!
Other than that, I'm rather impressed.

Of course. I myself have been following the development of DVDStripper, hoping that some day I might be able to actually purchase it (since neither of the available methods were of any use to me). Now it's free, and I've finally got around to test it, and so far it has not failed me.
Sure, TitlesetBlanker wins in regards to speed, but DVDStripper does have a few nifty things going for it.

Maybe you'd be interested to know how the original quotation looks, spoken by the inimitable Nero Wolfe:
"Compose yourself, Archie. Why taunt me? Why upbraid me? I am merely a genius, not a god."

lol, very interesting :D
I didn't know about that quote and I guess the point of my quote is that I don't think I'm above (or below) anyone else regardless of who they are
p.s. thanks for the link Mtz

Although I hate "me-too" type posts...
I purchased this software some time ago, and have been very happy with it. I'm glad it is now availbe for free, so I can use it on my laptop when I am away from home (frequently, yay U.S. Army). It still occasionally has some issues with Anime titles, but these have been by and large worked out.
Great work MackemX and kudos for releasing it to the public.

Hi folks,
it's been a while since I last wrote here, but I had to put my mind to other things recently. In any case I wanted to ask a silly question... how do you install this dvdstripper? I know it is a silly question, but I unzip the file, execute DVDStripper.exe and get a message
'component 'MSCOMCTL.OCX' or one of its dependencies not currently registered:a file is missing or invalid'
and then it shuts up...
Hints?
Ferran.

MSCOMCTL.OCX is the Microsoft Common Controls activeX component. Many, many programs are dependent on this component. It's very rare to see a PC that doesn't have some version of mscomctl - you must keep your PC pretty pristine.
I'm pretty sure installing the latest version of Internet Explorer (or any version since about 3.1) will install mscomctl. I'm also pretty sure you can just place the control on your system (in windows/system if I'm not mistaken) and avoid spamming your hard drive. Unfortunately you have to register it manually, but their are instructions on how to do this on the web (for example, go to Microsoft's knowledge base and search for article # 146219).
The hard part is finding the control. Technically you're only supposed to get it as part of a licensed product, but again I'm pretty sure it's in Internet Explorer and that's totally free.
Incidentally this is probably already addressed on DVDStripper's official forum (www.dvdrbase.com (http://www.dvdrbase.com/forumdisplay.php?f=177) ).

@Fmazzanti, Kedirekin is correct :) as most issues will be already answered in the forum
this is the direct link you need HERE (http://www.dvdrbase.com/showthread.php?p=192745#post192745) which is part of the FAQ
@timekills, cheers ;)
@Amnon82, thanks for link :)

Hi again,
thanks for the download info. Now it is up and running... but I would like to see a guide. I know there's one at dvdbase.com, but you have to register and I don't want to. Is there any place where I can download it wothout having to log in?
BTW, can you remove audio/subtitles with this one? I didn't see an option for that, and it is a pretty easy to do job with IfoEdit...

@Fmazzanti: you can't remove unwanted streams with dvdstripper.
