Firmware on 8x DVD+RW? Dual Format

I was looking to see if it's possible to make this dual-format with a simple firmware update. I have not been able to find one for this drive-it's the Khypermedia KDVRW8X (8X DVD+RW)-The cheapy from Office max.

Evidently, it's not possible to upgrade DVD+RW to DVD+/-RW drive by simple firmware update, if this is what you're talking about. Otherwise all the burners on the market would have been dual format.
