Hi Everyone:

I have just switched from Xmpeg to Gknot, and I have followed the GKnot DivX5 guide - DVD -> DivX5 guide based on GKnot (full guide) every step of the way. The result of my video was great except one thing, the sound.

I used the 1x vbr-mp3 setting just like the guide told me to; however, the result was so bad. I have to turn my volume all the way up and still can not hear it clearly. (by the way, I do not have a fancy speaker system that has Amp. build in. I only use a very basic 2 piece speaker.)

I did not have this problem with Xmpeg, because I can ues the Audio Tools that came with it to change the settings of the sound of my video. Turn it up before I encode. The finished video result with a very clear and loud sound.

Plus I have tried to encode my video without sound, and add the AC3 file I got from DVD2AVI to it later using AVI-Mux, it is still not good, by saying this I meant that it is not as good as the ones I got by using Xmpeg's Audio Tools; and I have tried the Noise Filter that came with GK too, it is still no use.

I know I did not do anything wrong with it, by saying this I meant that I REALLY DID FOLLOW the GKnot DivX5 guide - DVD -> DivX5 guide based on GKnot (full guide) EVERY STEP OF THE WAY! And I also know that I did not have a bad source, because I tried all my dvds(27) with GK, the result was the same, bad sound. They were not like that when encoded them with Xmpeg, the sound was really good(although, the quality of the picture was not as good as GK).

I am sure there is or are way(s) to fix this problem(at least I hope there will be one), and I am just too green to find it. So, would anyone help me out with it, please?

Have a nice day
Thanks in advance

Sincerely yours,

Hi, and welcome to the forum-

I used the 1x vbr-mp3 setting

Are you talking about the Interleaving and Overhead setting back in the Bitrate Tab? If so, it has nothing to do with the volume or quality of the audio.

...and add the AC3 file I got from DVD2AVI to it later

Are you talking about MP3 or AC3 or both?

...when encoded them with Xmpeg, the sound was really good...

Are you talking about the quality of the audio, or just the loudness?

I'm sorry, but I'm having a bit of a problem understanding just exactly what it is you're asking. But, if the AC3 volume is too low, it's easy enough to fix, and has nothing to do with GKnot, but with your filter settings. GKnot doesn't alter the AC3 in any way. Assuming you have the AC3 filter installed, just go Start->Programs->AC3Filter->AC3Filter Config. Then in the lower left, where it says Preset, change it to Loud. If there's more to your question, then please come back and ask again.
