Divx vs Xvid: Which one is the best?

Hi Everyone:
I've noticed lately the most used codec at least at file sharing appz (p2p) is Xvid, so, which one is the best (divx o xvid) (I know divx is payed and xvid isn't, but I wanna focus on the quality/compression, etc on both codecs)
