I'm trying to make a DVD out of m2v (encoded with TMPGEnc Plus 2.5) and ac3 elementary streams.
When I multiplex them and play the DVD files with PowerDVD, I see that the video freezes in the same points (multiplexing both with IFOEdit and DVD-lab).
So I played the m2v in PowerDVD, but it's OK, and also the preview in DVD-lab and in DVD Shrink is OK.
Then I tried TMPGEnc DVD Author, and played the files in PowerDVD...perfect!!!
Can anybody tell me what's happening? Why are the results good only with TMPGEnc DVD Author? Is it really better than IFOEdit and DVD-lab in multiplexing? (of course not for menues, DVD-lab is just the best for that :D )
Thanks!

Was your GOP structure of this kind: IBBPBBPBBPBBPBBPBB ?
Some programs need M=3 and N/M=4 for PAL.
Quoting the TMPG encoding guide:
"Make sure Output interval of sequence header is set to 1 per GOP (the default is 0 which won't work properly). The Number of I/P/B pictures in the GOP should not be crucial but just in case I use 1/5/2 for NTSC and 1/4/2 for PAL which is the default for the DVD profile in TMPG".

I just used the default for PAL DVD profile in TMPGEnc, which is:

GOP structure: IBBPBBPBBPBBP
Number of I/P/B pictures: 1/4/2
Output interval of sequence header: 1 per GOP
Max number of frames in a GOP: 15
[X] Output bitstream for edit (closed GOP)
[X] Detect scene change
[ ] Force picture type setting

I left it as it was since I don't know much about this GOP stuff...

Some programs need M=3 and N/M=4 for PAL.
I can't find these options in TMPGEnc...
I had a look at this guide (http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/tmpg-avinput.htm) about AVI input for TMPGEnc (my file is an AVI captured from TV), and it says you have to set Field order to Bottom field first (field B), while in the default profile it is set to field A.
So I tried to change it and reencode, but I obtained the same results :(
Any suggestion?
PS: I'm afraid this thread is becoming matter for the encoding forums...

I found this article (http://www.mmbgroup.com/kb/article.php?id=025) in the DVD-lab knowledge base about stuttering video, and it says that you need this GOP structure for pal: IBBPBBPBBPBBPBB (different from the pal DVD default in TMPGEnc). So I unchecked "closed GOP", authored with DVD-lab and...everything is OK! So no DVD-lab issue (of course :D ).
I'll post on the TMPG forum to ask about this GOP problem.
