I'm reautoring aliens, when I import the generated script i get subs errors

http://xtac.altervista.org/files/scen.gif

If subtitles are disabled in sceneaid the script is imported correctly.
I've also noticed that sceneaid detects an unexisting vob-id but it's not added to the script.

Wookie: what does it say in the log window? should say something like: "Starting Scan of....." - does that show the proper directory name?

catx: please send me your .ifo of the VTS thatit's creating an extra vobid for.....that and your sceneaid.scp file (zipped or rar'd please)
as far as the subs, - send me a couple of the .sst files - one that has the most problems would be great...

I managed to install(in one sense of the word) 0.9.0.3.But does this program add dummy audio tracks in to keep the structure?.As i have tracks 1,4,and 5, and unticked the two 5.1 audio tracks that took place 2 and 3.

D3s7

if it's a PGC demux : yes
if it's a VOBID Demux : no...

you can't dummy VOBID demux - those you need to modify the IFO afterwords.

How do you use it?
1) Rip your Movie with DoItFast4u
2) Encode all assets as normal

I'm a newb and I'm having trouble with Step #2.. how do I set up encoding? I just have the ccedata.txt that doitfast4u created and it lists all my vts avs's with the same bitrate like this:
""C:\pulp\VTS01\VTS__01_V001.16~9_1.AVS",0,9352,2421,0,5"
How do I set up the proper bitrate for the main movie etc and then how do I encode with batchccews? I tried loading the ccedata.txt into batchccews but I don't think the bitrates have been set up to fit it onto a dvd-r. I already tried generating the script with sceneaid and it worked fine.. but step 2 I don't know how to do. Thanks ds37 and anyone else who can help

D3s7
1st February 2004, 14:58
you import that ccedata file into BatchCCE.. bitrates have already been calculated by DoItFast4u!

easier way would have been to just set the "Post Processing" flag in DoItFast4U! to auto launch batchcce/docce4u

Sorry to tell you this but all that is in the manuals for each app

Those of you who have reported seeing an extra vobid (one that doesn't exist) - where are you seeing this?

in the script or in the SceneAid status/log window?

I'm not seeing any extras in the actual SceneAid.scp file which leads me to believe it's just a logwindow problem... script files appear to be fine

The other two are the dummy files that are used to generate the missing cell/layerbreak cells.

I generate those files....

They don't represent any VOBID though and are not actually used unless a dummy cell is needed (unused "data" assets do not effect the end size of your movie")

This may appear dumb or obvious.. but just where in the Big Three (http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/mpg/ra-guide.htm) would this application fit in when a movie is processed by vob id in DITF4U? I mean in the directions for SceneAid it says "encode video assets as normal" ... while ReAuthorist won't exactly process anything by vob id so what is one to do?

I'm sure this question sounds quite dumb to those of you whom have read every guide and know this stuff like the back of your hand, but can you please help me out? I've got one movie with an angle (so vob id) and another with multiple vob id's being used and I'd really like to back them up!

Thanks for any help anyone gives, I appreciate it! :)

I'm getting an illegal connection error when trying compile the dvd in scenarist. It happens on VTS1 title 14, the only thing I can tell differently is that Program 2 has Non-seamless set whereas VTS1 title 13 Program 2 has Seamless, if you go back to the track editor it shows up as being set to seamless.

Sorry guys.. was out the last few days in bed w/ a migrane...

I've fixed a few issues that I think were a result of the installer script I had... so those should be taken care of.

I'm looking at subs and audio now.

mrwhite : that's a new one to me... can you email me your sceneaid.scp script and the IFO for that vts

Thanks

question...well..possibly more of a request....
is there some way to view the substreams Sceneaid will be using? I see that it recognizes video, and audio....but is there some place to see the listing of subs?

Would I even use Reauthorist? I know that it specifies our bitrate but so far I've attempted to backup my Superman I DVD and my Chicago DVD without luck. My Superman DVD backed up but when you attempt to jump to other chapters it freezes and locks up. My Chicago DVD got all the way through to Scenarist but wouldn't let me complile my files back to the DVD structure. Here's the order that I went in:

DoItFast4U --> (Reauthorist Opens) Select Encode --> (Scenarist Opens) I encode my files --> SceneAid (I select My Output Directory And Generate The Script) --> Scenarist

Am I doing something wrong here. I do use Reauthorist to get my bitrate but I generate the script for the movie using SceneAid in the order listed above. I'm just getting tons of problems. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone.

Ok, this one hasn't been mentioned, I can sucessfully combine the pieces together again with your program, but the subtitles take over the video if they are enable during play, as in the text appears, but the rest of the screen goes black.

Eyes`Only
7th February 2004, 01:44
someone else noticed that too in a project.. it just means that the opacity settings are wrong (ie. the background should be 0 and instead it's 15 or something)

midnight256
7th February 2004, 01:48
hmm..thxs, i'll see if that does it.

Well, I noticed the P color for the subtitles were set to 100 instead of 0. Is there an automatic way to change that value, because as I see it, I would have to change all the values under scenerist.

Eyes`Only
7th February 2004, 02:10
Yes, change it in the .sst and then reimport the sub track

midnight256
7th February 2004, 02:16
Ok, in the .sst file, the parameters for PA are (0 0 255 - - - )
Which value controls the opacity?

Alright,I figured it out, kinda obvious once I thought about it. Do you know why the it was set to 255 instead of 0? When I rip movies by pgc, everytings fine, but when I try VOBID, the subs screw up the opacity.

midnight256
8th February 2004, 16:39
Ok, I was able to get the 1st disc of a 2 disc movie completed, subs and all, but with the second disk, when I generate the scipt with sceneaid, I get a type mismatch error. I've read in this thread that some people are also getting that error. I was wondering if there was a solution to it yet or not?

D3s7
9th February 2004, 00:39
I'm in the process of redoing the sub detection routine which should fix all sub errors.

A few other improvments will hopefully get rid of these other errors as well

Total noob here at the Big3 method, but I have done a little bit of other ripping before, so I may understand a little...I am trying to rip Toy Story, and it has multiple angles (VOB ID), which I have no idea how to do, trying to learn though...total noob at Scenarist. Does the newest version of Sceneaid support multi angles?

Thanks

Trahald
12th February 2004, 05:46
toy story was fun.. it has a few spots that are non-seamless angles (different video and different audios) for spots where you have say french audio playing and there is text in the movie part (say the opening credits) they show them in french. there are about 4-5 spots like that in the movie. i did it by hand tho (pre scenaid). i beleive sceneaid does handle this type of angle.

btw all of a sudden i stopped getting the error i listed above. im not sure what i did tho :/ so now its working.. well.. at least as much as it is for everyone else ;)

D3s7
12th February 2004, 13:09
I'm hoping to finish up a new version today that has much better sub handling among onther things -

But yes, current version handles non-seamless angles however, only scenarist 3.0 can handle importing a script with non-seamless angles in the .scp (i know this isn't a 'sceneaid' script issue either because you can create a simple non-seamless angle track in scenarist, export and try re-importing) - if someone knows a fix for this I'd love to hear it too..

- D3s7

Trahald
12th February 2004, 14:30
actually it cant handle Drop frame. Non-drop frame non-seamless scripts import ok.. unfortunately since all ntsc is drop frame, were pretty much screwed anyway.. hehe. and scenarist wont let you change it back after tracks are set. :(

so pal people should be fine but 3.0 for ntsc'ers (just for non-seamless angle projects)

D3s7
12th February 2004, 14:33
Drop frame on Non-Seamless angles?

that could be as I don't have a PAL source to test with

I've been told that Scenarist 3.0 does handle them properly..... so those of you with 3 are ok

doesn't do the rest of us any good though

zeeter
12th February 2004, 16:49
Ok, getting really confused now. I am only using NTSC sources. So to get these to work, I must have Scenarist 3.0?

D3s7
12th February 2004, 16:50
If your movie has non-seamless angles, yes

everything else works fine with 2.6 / 2.7

wmansir
14th February 2004, 02:01
I'm having a bit of a problem with scenarist importing a sceneaid script.

I'm doing an disc with shared PCGs ("Get Over It", R1). The movie itself is fine, but the problem is with a bunch of extras in a second VTS titleset. There are 23 PCGs, but 6 or so are just cells from one of the larger PCGs. Sceneaid appears to have imported and constructed the layout perfectly.

So let's get to the issue. All of the PCGs have 3 audio tracks. For most of them there is only one actually track (track 1 or 3), the other two are just dummies. The problem is that most of the PCGs are missing the second audio track. Scenarist gives me an import error:
Error Audio stream "2" in "Video Track "VTS02P03"" does not contain data. Please check the track in Track Editor.

Of course it won't build without something there and if I try to manually place a dummy audio track in the second track Scenarist crashes. I tried this with both Scenarist 2.7, then 3.0 and both had the same results. There are no placeholders in the data layout, and a couple of dummy.ac3 files. I tried using one of those dummy files already imported and I also tried importing my own dummy track, but both caused Scenarist to crash when I tried to add them to the Audio 2 track.

I would appreciate any any suggestions or if anyone want more info/files just ask.

Will there be also option to make VOBID demux with deselected Audio streams?

I'm not sure what you mean by that.... If you mean pad the audio streams so they stay in the same stream as the original, NO - in fact that can't be done.

In a VOBID demux, if you rip out a stream, you'll need to modify the resulting IFO and update the stream pointers. Eventually there will be a post mux utility to Sceneaid that will do that for you but for now you need to manually do it
