Cannot Display forced subs PLEASE HELP!!

Hi all,


I have been using auto gk for about 4 months now as my knowledge of video enoding is is below par at best, this program works a treat and lets me backup dvds with ease. The problem i am having is with forced subtitles. The film is 'The Pianist' and there is a little german speaking in it. I checked the option in auto gk to 'display only forced subs' and i presumed this was all i needed to do.
Can anyone tell me what i'm doing wrong and maybe a little simplified guide on how to get the forced subs into the movie. When i rip the dvd with dvddecrypter and open the files with auto gk it shows in the language section THREE english selections and i don't know why. Are one of these the forced subs? Anyhoo, i would much appreciate any help you can give me.

Hi, and welcome to the forum-

Sometimes the Forced Subs are part of the Main Substream, and sometimes they have their own Stream. No way to tell for sure except by testing them out in the Preview. If they are part of the main Substream, you have to turn on both the Language in the main AutoGK screen as well as the Forced Subs in the Advanced Settings. If they have their own Stream, then you turn on the Language in the main screen, and don't turn on Forced Subs in the Advanced Settings. When messing around trying to find Forced Subs, always confirm your choice by playing the Preview.

Based on what you said about there being 3 English Language Substreams, I'd guess that one of them (probably the third) is the Forced Subs. So, choose one after the other on the main screen, don't choose Forced Subs, and check them out in the Preview.

But I haven't encoded The Pianist (fine movie, though), and maybe someone else knows for sure which it is for that movie.

thanks for the prompt reply dude. Yes that makes sense to me i will try turning on the english subs, check the forced subs in advance and preview it. i think they must be in the main sub stream aa i have already tried just checking the display forced subs tab and leaving no subs in the sub menu. i hope this works and i will let you know either way.
