Im trying to convert my audio to vorbis (using besweet/oggmachine). The output file when played back, gives audible cracks/pops.
Im sure the problem is not in the encoding since I get the same artifacts when playing the 'Dare To Compare' files form the vorbis site.

I use the OggDS 0.9.9.5 (latest I can find). However, If I play the same files using the oggdropxpd, it plays fine. Seems to be a problem related to the DS filter on my machine (P4-2.4)

Please help.

Strange....try CoreVorbis (http://corecodec.org/projects/corevorbis). Are you using SPDIF by any chance?

Thanks,

That worked well and now the annoying pops are gone. Funny, how I'm the only one with this problem (since the older filter is quite popular).

One quick followup question, I can play the file in MediaPlayer Classic but when I open the same file (the .ogg file) in winamp, it does not play at all. In fact, when I try to see the properties in winamp, it says the file is MPEG 1.0 layer 1 file with the incorrect length and bitrate.

You need a OGG input plugin for Winamp, upgrade to a newer version. I'd recommend 5.01. http://www.winamp.com
