Hi!
Just a request: May it be possible in the future, to convert AVI to DVD using source audio?
As far as I know, avi can contain mp2 and ac3 audio out of the DVD standard audio types. It would spare some time. I think DVD is becoming the most popular output type, and may be not a bad idea to inprove features connecting to this type. Also AC3 output would provide a better quality. I think no conversation such as stereo to any kind of 5.1 is aimless, it not results hearable difference. But the 2 types above, could be copied directly to the DVD project.

Certainly it should be possible to implement such functionality and DVD2SVCD did hint to me that he was considering it.
There is a beta version of the next release undergoing testing at the moment (which I can confirm does not support source audio from AVI) but a few other issues have arisen with this. Certainly ironing these problems out is at the top of his agenda before adding any more features. So I can promise nothing for the next release but I remain tentatively hopeful that one day it will be supported.
Only time will tell.

Thank You Nick, for the info.
We will wait for it, and while it is not implemented, we will do some handwork. We have to be glad, D2S spares us a lot of work.
I think there is one more idea that I can add to this forum:
On the audio tab, there could be an alternative selection, something like the "Run this per CD image" function. There anybody could place a batch file, that would be run instead of beesweet. Eg.: If I write besplit command in the batch file (when the source is ac3), the source audio would be used in the avi2dvd mode. Of course use extracted_audio1 as an input and create encoded_audio1 as output for besliced would be necessary. As far as I know, it wont affect other parts of the project.
This would provide a great flexibility for audio processing.
What's Your opinion abut this?

Personally I am not sure about the idea.
Whilst clearly it would offer supreme flexibility, this in itself is a double edged sword.
On the one hand, accomplished users could set up a batch file that suits their needs. Thus they retain the "click and go" functionality of DVD2SVCD, yet with open licence to do exactly as they please with the audio. On the other hand, however, it leaves the door open for people to call on software external to the DVD2SVCD bundle right in the middle of the conversion process.
The finalize tab allows DVD2SVCD to do its magic uninterrupted, then allows the user to do what they will right at the end. Your suggestion allows the user to introduce errors, problems etc early in proceedings which would be carried through the conversion process.
Allowing such flexibility mid-conversion would be an absolute nightmare to offer any sort of support for. I agree source audio from AVI would be nice but IMHO your batch file idea has too great a potential to open a can of worms.
Just my two pence worth.

You are absolutly right. I have forgotten the main aim, to automatize the whole process. Adding features like this could mess up the rest of the process. Anyway, in advaced mode, we could use it; maybe not a batch file, just a command line that could be run and could be determined when its process ends. For not so experienced users it would not appear due to accessibility only in advanced mode.
