Hello everyone. I'm new here and new to the DVD recording game, so I hope you will go easy on me. If this is the Newbie Forum, I think I need a pre-noob playground :)

I am having problems backing up 'episodic' DVDs, particularly those with 4 episodes per DVD9. I really want 2 uncompressed episodes each on 2 DVD-Rs. If I just use DVD Shrink to pull out two episodes I lose navigation between these episodes. But copying across the menus doesn't seem to work, even for the episodes that exist. I haven't got MenuEdit to work yet (problems in the IfoEdit stage I think; whenever I open IfoEdit I have a complete brain fart). I don't like the crude transitioning that DVDFab gives you. Ideally I'd like to keep the menus and disable (gray out?) those elements that link to the episodes on the other DVD.

I'm sure the answer is blindingly obvious and that there are a dozen guides that show the way. If so, please point me in the right direction. Your help and tolerance would be much appreciated.

Regards,
Alan

Welcome to Doom9's forum!

Have you seen 2COOL's Cheat Sheets and Guides List (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=43142)? One of the entries in his "Miscellaneous Guides" section might give you a leg up. Good luck!

Have a look at this thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=69448): it's about TitleSetBlanker, a new tool that could be perfect for you, if your episodes are in different titlesets. Just blank the 2 episode you don't want in your backup DVD and you're done.
To be honest I've never tried it, but from what other users say, it should be good.

Thanks for the replies.

I'm studying the guides and TitleSetBlanker seems to have potential. I'll try it and report back when I can (I've had difficulties logging in all day).

Alan
