Okay... I have made a little bit of research enought to know there is no way I'll be able to cap stuff in HD format using my cable provider since it uses qam and no card supports it.

Then, I have no choice but to go with OTA sources ... we have two Satellite providers, but my guess is:

The antenna must be plugged directly into the HDPC card using a coax cable ... right?

How will I know how to position the antenna to get the channels ? We have many commercials running around stating that stealing satellite signals is punishable by law, yet I wonder, how can you cap in pure HDTV quality without stealing the signal ???

I am based in Montreal... any help would be appreciated regarding this matter !

There is a free to air HDTV demo channel on a dish network sat at 61.5E. I've heard that there are some HD channels on the BEV sat at 82E, I do not know if any of these are unencrypted.

Check http://www.lyngsat.com for details on the transponders that transport this media.
