Hello!
I'm trying to downcalculate a DVD. But the last step doesn't work!

The last LOG-Parts I can see are:
Info Multiplexing
Info Multiplexing VOB Main Stream

After this a processbar appears that seems to create the 4,21GB VOB.In DVD2SVCD log the last Lines are:

- Creating DVD-Image using Sonic Scenarist
--------------------------------------------------------
Creating Sonic Scenarist Script file
Executing Sonic Scenarist

Scenarist has done something, but I can't find any Image or files in my VIDEO_TS folder.

I can only find movie0.scn-Encoded_Video_CCE_PAL-t_t.vob with 4,21GB.

But some time later after starting to create this file Scenarist closes itself without any message.

What can be the problem?

movie0.scn-Encoded_Video_CCE_PAL-t_t.vob SS creates this as the muxed file then creates the 1gb vobs from it, you should see a folder called dvd-mux and one called DVD-Image that contains the finished vobs then in dvd-mux same place as the muxed vob should be DiscImage.DVD that's the image file to burn if SS completed. The log seems to indicate that SS failed at some point. It would say Image Creation sucessful if it finished. SS closed on an error would be my guess (also speaking from exp.), if you want to re-run the script and watch SS for the error just open D2S and go to misc>recover and restart at DVD-Authoring. There could be a problem such as Bitrate to high...or maybe just SS being a bitch. Try authoring with DVD-Author GUI-ImgTool-DvdDecrypter or DVDLab or TMPGEnc DVD Author, or maestro.

After further thought...I think you may have run out of free discspace!

run out of free discspace!
There're >8GB left.

you should see a folder called dvd-mux and one called DVD-Image

In dvd-mux I found the big VOB-File;
DVD-Image is empty

here could be a problem such as Bitrate to high...or maybe just SS being a bitch.
I have used the default bitrates, so it should normally work.

Try authoring with DVD-Author GUI-ImgTool-DvdDecrypter or DVDLab or TMPGEnc DVD Author, or maestro.
Hmm... Don't I get problems with the subtitels if I use other programs?

Subtitle problems....you got me I have no clue, A subject that doesn't or I should say didn't interest me until windtrader ask me for help because he couldn't get them to work right with d2s/SS so we corresponded at great length via PM, I spent a great deal of time coming up with an alternative subs method for him and learning at the same time. We came up with a text based sub method that seems to work quite well with Maestro. I also did a guide on bmp based subs for maestro using subrip/maestro sbt but the text ones worked fine so I never posted the 3 page bmp guide. It all started with SS being a pain for multi-reason's. I left it way behind and moved on to Maestro myself and never looked back, sure it's not scripted and automated but it has worked everytime, erm someone else could not walk away from aforementioned pos ss, and is still fighting with it LOL....it's all in my guides, try it you might like.

I have a similar problem too. I can't see what file I'm supposed to burn.

I've just used the AVI2DVD option, the program failed when SS kicked in as I ran out of disk space. I ran the recovery file and SS completed. Here's the log file

I have two folders, as you mentioned, "you should see a folder called dvd-mux and one called DVD-Image". The Image folder is empty, well the Audio_TS is empty and the Video_TS has a 8MB dvd file in it. The mux folder has the big .mpv file and the .mp2 file.

I've used TMPG DVD Author to create the Audio_TS and Video_TS folders, but I thought that was what SS is supposed to do. What have I done wrong?

Your free disc space seems to have increased dramatically by running Scenarist again! Beforehand it was 3587.20 mb. Afterwards it was 10174.01 mb!

Something appears to have gone drastically wrong. Unless you were busy deleting files to free up space whilst Scenarist was running...

Incidentally the image file is called discimage.dvd and is found in your main movie folder not the DVD Image subfolder. It is actually an ISO image and can be renamed as such if your burning porgram prefers. However, looking at the logfile I would be surprised if it has been created. It appears crash recovery and Scenarist don't get along too well anyway, so just make sure you have stacks of free space before you start your next conversion.

What I did was free up about 4GB after it failed. Then ran the recovery.

I'll try a new project with enough space this time.
