View Full Version : How Do You Convert .M2V Stills to .BMP?

I have a .VOB (of a menu) that I have demuxed into individual parts. The menu is composed of stills, and the stills are in .M2V format, but I need them in .BMP form. I can play them in PowerDVD in media mode, but they only play for 0.1 second, so it is virtually impossible to do a screen capture. To get around this, I have loaded 10-15 instances of the same .M2V to give me a higher "chance" of pausing the display long enough to do a screen capture.
DVD2AVI will generate a D2V file, but when loaded into an .AVS script, VirtualDub gives an exception to the file.
Is there a program that will allow me to convert the .M2V stills to .BMP directly?

VirtualDubMod can load M2V stills. Use snapshot source frame or save image sequence to save in bitmap format. Also DVD2AVIdg version should do the trick if you want to use Avisynth.

The first thing that pops into my head is the registered version of MenuEdit. It saves your frame into a BMP. ;)

Just as aside, I tried that once with a PAL menu vob and the BMP was saved with NTSC resolution.

Or, load the VOB/M2V into DVD2AVI, fiddle with the slider if necessary to display the imgae, then switch Color Space to RGB 24 Bit and do Option - Save BMP. The bitmap will be saved in the current directory (i.e. where DVD2AVI was launched from).
