OK, I have my edited home-video in .avi format
1: Use TMPGENC to transform the .avi files to .m2v and .wav files
2: Use TMPGENC DVD AUTHOR to transform the .m2v and .wav in DVD files (VOB, DUP, etc.) in the directory VIDEO_TS
3: Burn with Nero 6 using dvd film format or TMPGENC DVD AUTHOR

does someone knows this? Is it a good process?

Works well for me. The only difference for me is I encode the audio to either mp2 or ac3. This produces a much smaller audio file, saving space for a higher video bit rate. I use vdub to extract it to a wav and then besweet.

I've used the same process, and its worked well. However, if the avi isn't great quality, the conversion to mpeg2 or mpeg can be very poor, pixelation etc when played on a tv.
I usually convert it to vcd standard, and tmpgenc dvd author accepts this, and converts it to vobs/ifo's etc. no prob.
Recommend u follow the previous advice and extract the wav from the avi using tmpgenc/vdub first, then seperate the avi video and audio, and process the video to vcd standard in tmpgenc..
Then when u have vcd (mpeg) video and wav audio file, u can re-join them both in tmpgenc dvd author.
I've had probs before if i don't extract the wav audio first, i've tried to enocde avi audi/video in tmpgenc before, and lost many many hours of encoding cuz tmpgenc doesn't like certain types of avi mpeg layer 3 audio.
Safe urself alot of time and stress and extract the audio to wav first. :)
