M Player Classic M2V seeking problem

I am having an issue with Media player classic seeking in MPV files and M2V files. The files play perfectly from the beginning, but if I try to move the slider I either get no image or the image does not update! I have tried deactivating MPC's mpeg2 filter but this does not help. I have formated recently, but even before the seeking was not working properly. I was getting a black screen with pixelated blocking, which would sometimes then start playing again. The same files play back ok in other players, only MPC has a problem (latest version by the way) I guess it could be some kind of codec or filter clash, but I just wondered if anyone else had had the same problem.

I use the MPEG2 decoder from K-lite codec pack (http://www.k-litecodecpack.com/) with Media Player Classic, and I have no seeking problem for MPEG2.

Thanks Djidjo, but I think I'll give the K-lite pack a miss. I'm very dubious about installing loads more codecs and filters to fix a problem with existing codecs and filters! It may have something to do with the cinemaster 2000 mpeg codec I have installed although I don't think so! I do a lot of DVD authoring though and the cinemaster 2000 is needed to run Scenarist 3 on the Parhelia card. Does anyone know of a specific mpeg codec or filter that is compatible with MPC?

I agree with you, I don't like codecs packs that install stuff without telling you because it's "what you need" :rolleyes: , but you can select/unselect EVERY codec in the k-lite codec pack when you install it. So if you just want to install the MPEG2 decoder (you'll have to choose between the Ligos and the Elecard, I don't remember which one I chose), deselect every other codec when installing it.

Actually Djidjo I did just that last night. I tried the Ligos first, which was able to seek after about a five second delay, however during normal playback it would slow down and then speed up and stutter. Next I tried the Elecard. This played back perfectly and the seeking was instantaneous! I was just about to break open the champagne when I realised all was not as great as I had first thought. After seeking, the video was out of sync with the audio (non multiplexed streams). I did a couple of tests and realised the audio was fine (Re-clock filter) but it was definitly the video that was playing out of sync!! Such a shame, I really thought I had it there. Any thoughts?

Did you check the options of the Ligos and Elecard decoder and played with it ? It's either in K-Lite Codecpack/Configuration/Mpeg2 from Start Menu or in Play/Filters menu from Media Player Classic when you open an MPEG2 stream.
(and did you try on many MPEG2 files, just to be sure it's not a problem with the file you're working on - it could have too few keyframes or so...)
