the guide that's on the 3vix site deals with an AVI with uncompressed PCM. is there a way to input/mux an already-encoded AAC or MP4 audio file?

i'm having the dickens of a time getting a valid MP4 file that Quicktime will read with Xvid (RC1) video and AAC or MP4 audio in MP4ui (out of date) and MP4Creator60 (also out of date?)...

Yes, basically if its an MP4 with AAC then connect the Audio pin directly to the the muxer

if its an AAC file you need the AAC parser, then connect the audio pin directly to the muxer ;)

Etc

also dont use mp4creator/mp4ui with xvid, divx5 avi files with b-frames

er .. it doesn't have the AAC in it .. yet .. i'm trying to get the AAC/MP4 into it. :)

edit: oh, where do i get this Parser and what's it named (once installed)? (figured this one out; is there a vB code for STRIKETHRU text?)

edit2: i THINK i have it. i have this setup:

AVI (Xvid 1.0RC1) > AVI Splitter > 3ivx Muxer > Filewriter (MP4 file)
File Source (MP4 file) > 3ivx Media Splitter >[out to Muxer]

edit3: problem, however. each time i run it, Graphedit crashes about half way into the muxing... anyone else had this problem?

how do you guys do an XVID+AAC to MP4 file?

update to 3ivx 4.5.1, that should be enough

Yes, update to 4.5.1 :)

It fixes the muxing crash

Re XviD+AAC -> MP4

the same way ;)

mux the audio and video into an MP4 using the 3ivx filters :)

sweet.. it worked! it even opened on Quicktime which surprised me O_o silly Apple. was gonna try it out on a G4 today but decided to buy a $5 MS optical mouse (office max! wewt!) instead...
