If i capture in huffyuv how much does it compress the video? I see the posts saying the file will be large. I will be capturing 26 minute anime shows from vcr tapes.
Is it stupid to use divx to compress it after I capture the video?
What is the best way to get the files to a size where I can fit a few of them on a cd-r and still have good picture quality?

I was having trouble posting so i'll add some more detail.
Ok so huffuv great, but they say big file!!! Yet its supposed to be a compression format. What is the MB rate for the high res capture mode? What are the different capture resolutions, if any, for huffyuv?
After I have my little show on the Hard drive, I guess I will have to us a IVTC filter to deinterlace it, does this save any space?
Now after i have it, is there any other compression i should do like putting it through Gordian Knot and shrinking it to 640x480?
What other encoding codecs are ther that will shrink it down and maintain good quality? They say DIVX is a lossful Codec, but is that in the capture side, or the conversion side? I have forced film some animes that i have had, but did not IVTC or Deinterlace them.
The lines are visible on the final compress, but the images are sharper than when i set them at 29.6 frames and use IVTC to encode them. AT 29.6 the edges get a little bicubically blurred. I think it has to do with the upper limits of my processor.
Anyways any help is appreciated.

You have two issues. Capture, and then compression and storage. Treat them separately.
For capture, I recommend reading the Capture FAQ (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=32575) and the Capture Guide (http://www.doom9.org/capture/start.html). I think most of your questions will be answered.
As to HuffYUV, the compression will vary depending on both settings and content. But it is certainly on the order of several times less capacity than raw video. Of course, it's relative. 50 GB of HuffYUV video may seem like a lot, but it's less than, say, and equivalent of 150-200GB of raw video.
HuffYUV is a common choice for capture because it meets many of the needs of those who post-process, such as: Low CPU consumption Cut points can be made at any frame (unlike MPEG-1,2,4) Freely availableThere are other codecs suitable for capture and post processing, such as MJPEG or DV.
As to storing your captures on CD, you have many choices, depending primarily on your intended playback mechanisms. For example, if you wish to play back on a standalone DVD player, the player may be able to play from various forms of Video CD, such as VCD or SVCD. It may also support Data CDs with one or more MPEG-4 codecs and .AVI files. If you wish to play back on PC, your choices are more flexible, and in general, one of the MPEG-4 codecs, such as DivX, can be a good choice.
If you go to Doom9's website -- www.doom9.org -- and click on "The Basics" section, you'll have a choice of about 14 different web pages to choose from ... including a set of MPEG-4 codec comparisons that may help you answer your questions about which MPEG-4 codec might be most suitable for you to use.
Once you've read through the Capture FAQ and the Capture Guide, you'll have enough knowledge to begin to ask more pointed questions. Good luck!

Thanks its just a little confusing at first. I've been using Divx and thought that there could be nothing better, so I haven't really looked at all the intricasies of capturing VHS signals fom my player.
Its all new to me and any information is appreciated. I read the FAQ and it raised more questions, while answering some of them.
