Test image

Wouldn't it be a good idea to create a test image of various different clips encoded in different codecs and formats to test out players? We could compile a database based on the results.

I'm not volunteering though ;)

I'm downloading it but its a bit massive (586mb) . THis bandwidth is gonna get hammered. maybe smaller 100mb chunks would be better seperated into various tests eg divx xvid music svcd etc.

Why not use a download manager like Getright etc? It will let you pause and resume it and will retry on it's own if you get disconnected from the download.

well for anyone whos interested.
player dvx6100 dec firmware 2003-12-19 4.1.27.1c
played from a phillips cdrw 12x
Autoflmsung.......all clips played back using full width of screen on a 4:3 television
divx3......all file played ok (but showing its age)
divx5......most files played ok eg clip using Gmc showed mosaic'ing, qpel would not play at all and clip 7 stuttered (gmc+hi bitrate)

muxing.....all clips fine (AC3 volume lower than mp3)

Ton...... all clips play fine (4sec silence when switching audio streams)

xvid ....clips 1 4 5 6 played fine
...... clip 2 gmc would not play
...... clip 3 qpel would not play
...... clip 7 codec not supported msg (gmc +hi bitrate)

All-in-all a very good showing.. 2 audio streams work fine, divx works fine, xvid works with no gmc or qpel. In general I preferred the visual quality of the xvid clips, and some of the divx3 clips really had problems with fast panning shots.

Who wants to try for three audio streams.. ac3 mp3 lpcm
