Xvid playback with WMP9?

Is there something special I have to do to get playback with WMP9? I get a "Windows Media Player encountered an unknown error" message" Does WMP9 even play xvid files? I chose the xvid codec after reading your codec comparision. I was using divx before that and that played fine. thanks

You have to install XviD before using it.

Ah, and the codec comparison isn't our's, but Doom9 made it. That's a small but very important difference.

So stupid question but you have xvid installed?
Try fddshow from 23th March 2003. This is probably the best allround decoder available.

yes i had xvid installed. I encoded the file as xvid.
