Hi
Almost everytime (80%), I get CRC errors at 4x and 2x.
Burner: NEC ND-1300A (1.0A) (http://www.nec.co.uk/DVD_RW_ND1300.aspx)
Medium: Princo DVD-R (white top) (http://www.e-tronicdepot.com/pr4xdv450102.html)
Does anyone have the same problem?

Princo DVD-R are junk (and imho also the NEC ND-1300A).

Could you explain both of your opinions?

Princo DVD-R ARE junk, there's nothing to explain. Lot's of people and PC-Magacines (also the German c't, one of the best) have discovered this.
About the NEC: I know very, VERY(!) much postings about problems with this Burner. Use Ritec G04 or Verbatim DVD-R with this Burner.

Hi
I have had this drive for a few months and have the same problem. It aint Nero, nero works great. The only media I have ever been able to burn at 4X are as follows
Ritek DvD-R Works great the best
memorex DVD-R no problems yet (DVD+R are OK too)
Princo DVD-R with the 4X stamped on the disk Are GOOD
Infosmart DVD-R are OK
Maxell well I wish I could return them.
If you live in Canada check out blankmedia.ca and this isn't an advert. just checkout the forms and see. Seems I got the wrong burner brand...

My princos ahve a "ring" at 1cm of the center, and from DVDINFOPro, errors seems to be in that region. I'll post a log and a picture soon.
[edit]
The error is located on the ring...

Firmware 1.09 seems to have corrected the problem. Hacked firmware cause problems with Princo DVD-R :(

Many common brands of DVDR are actually manufactured using the Ritek G04 dye. Just because they do not carry the Ritek name does not mean they are not Ritek discs. Although it would be fair to say most brands of disc who use the Ritek dye do boast about it quite loudly as it is so well reputed.
I know Canada is a big place and when you say such discs are unavailable in your area I don't know whether these guys ship to where you live. It might be worth a look though...

Edit - I seem to remember reading somewhere that Mitsumi do not get their discs from a single source so even within one pack you may get discs with different manufacturer codes in the ADVD info.

I got a 25-pack of Memorex (name: prodiscS3) and a 25-pack of Mitsumi is ordered. I'm tseting a memorex at 4X. I'll post results here.
In any case, PRINCO is a brand to avoid, in CDR and DVDR :)

well i found that memorex dvd+r's are generally pretty good (they work in my ps2) especially on the nec drives.

I agree with you all. NEVER BUY PRINCO!
I bough 100 DVD-R 2x some time ago, but I rarely use them. I've a Iomega Dual DVD burner, every disc I burn, have 1 or more errors on it, and sometimes it's impossible to read.
No matters with Verbatim or other companies (both - and + )

Your burner make errors on every DVDR brand?

Mine? No, just on cheap brands.
For example on Verbatim (Metal Azo) or TDK there's no problem.
I told you this in this thread since Iomega Dual DVD is the same as NEC, and someone hacked this firmware to become a 1300

Mitsumi DVD+R aren't very good either. I lost 1 on 4 (yet) and only burn at 2.4X :(
