Hi

I have used DVDShrink for about a week with no problems. It is a great program. I am using V3.1.3 with an up to date version of Nero (6.3 I think).

Just tried to backup a disk today and when it was analysing the disk (on inserting it) it got to 26% and then came up with an error message. The message said "Failed to read D: Data Error (cyclic redundancy check)"

Any ideas what this error is and why it happened?

In the end I used DVDDecryptor to read the disk before using DVDShrink on it and that worked fine.

Thanks for your help and advice.

Usualy this is because of a dirty or scratched disc.

I notice this problem whenever I open a disk on a 3.1.3 if it's been previously analyzed by an older version (2.3 in my case).

It always returns an error for me. So I just go back to my 2.3 and work from that program.

There's a directory containing what I assume is the results from any discs analysed by DVD Shrink. I'm pretty sure the folder is called DVDShrink or DVD Shrink and on a Win2k/XP machine it's stored in the Documents and Settings folder, either All Users or the name of the currently logged in user. Maybe renaming the folder and trying the disc again will get over the CRC error.
