Problem:
========
Ok basiclly my DVD+-RW burner is stuck in PIO mode and won't got into DMA2 although it does support this.
I'v tried different VIA drivers including the VIA IDE Miniport Driver and the normal 4 in 1 VIA driver. The Miniport caused more problems then it solved by causing any program trying to access the DVD burner to freeze and lock my burner from ejecting till I restarted.

The burner is connected to the IDE1 (the 2nd one) port and is the master with no slave.

Help would be much appreciated. I've tried about as much as my knowledge can permit.

I got contacted privatly on IRC for a fix to this and I thought I'd share.

It's really a two step process.

First I installed a utility called ForceASPI 1.8 available at:
http://forceaspi18.w.interia.pl/

Then I installed Via Miniport Drivers available at:
http://www.viaarena.com/?PageID=340

So far all programs I tried worked so far with new drivers/ASPI drivers however DVD Decrypter needs an upgrade to 3.1.9.0.

When I used 3.1.7.0 it crashed on me.

Nero and Alcohol 120% have NOT been tried yet with my current setup but at this point I don't. It's worth it to not have nero since I can simply convert the file formats.

I hope this helps anyone with similar issues.
