i am using Max DVD to MPEG to encode DVD's to MPEG(VCD) files, i like using this program because it keeps aspect ratio of the video, i've used super dvd ripper previously and the final rips made the peoples head look really long and narrow, so i like using Max DVD to MPEG.
anyways, my point, after i have finished encoding the dvd disc to mpeg and play it on my computer the audio in the mpeg file seems alot softer than what it was in the original DVD, anyone know how i can amplify the audio before burning it as an VCD. or better still if anyone knows of a better program to use than Max DVD can you please reccommend it to me?
Thanks

Philip

demux the mpg with f.e. tmpgenc (->MPEG TOOLS)

normalize/boost the audiofile with Besweet(+ GUI)/Hypercube Transcoder
(encode back to mp2 with Besweet(+ GUI)/Hypercube Transcoder)

mux back with tmpgenc

BeSplit can normalize MP2 audio without reencoding, see the SVCD/MP2 FAQ (linked in my signature).

As far as VCD programs, may I point you to DVD2SVCD (http://www.doom9.org/mpg/dvd2svcd.htm).
