coax to s-video ?

im wanting to use my leadtek winfast tv2000 xp deluxe s-video input....
i have analog cable and want to know the easiest/cheapest want to go coax to s-video and also the best way....

i know some of the new S-VHS vcr accept coax and output s-video ... but if it can be cheaper and the same quality that would be nice...
just need a pass-thru device not a recording device...

and i would still need RCA for the audio ?

Wouldn't the device need a tuner and a filter to seperate the Y/C?

I'd say the cheapest thing that does that is a card. I've used my svhs vcr JVC 3911U for that, but I think my Aver BT878 card's Philips tuner does a better job. It softens the picture a little, but I get very little noise.

yeah the problem is that the leadtek card does this but introduces noise that is not in the source... or i would just do that...

im doing it that way now into the card directly... kinda noisy

i was looking at the JVC 3911U

but i can not find a picture to see if i used voax as input... crazy i know but the lower model on the JVC site says coax and this one does not....

so it does have a Coax input and s-video output?

How do you know there is no noise in the source? If I run my CATV thru my Aver card tuner, it comes out clean but a little soft. If I run it to my JVC and then s-video to my MSI or Aver card it has noise. So for me, the JVC gives a noisier picture than just thru the Aver's tuner.

so it does have a Coax input and s-video output?
It has s-video in and out, rca in/out and RF in.

The thing I was disappointed in was that it has built in filters, but these don't seem to work unless you record (not with passthru).

I'd make sure you can take it back if you buy.

yeah i noticed the sony vhs vcr i have has fitlers on record but not on pass-thru or jsut watching tv....

well it does not happen when i connect dvd to svideo... but it does when i capture cable... and it not noticeable on any tvs in the house... it has noise lines that scroll thru the video... its pretty consistant on all channels... little worse on the ones that come in bad anyway

seems many people with leadtek cards have problem with the tvtuner adding noise. that is a video card but ive seen other complain of lines of noise on leadtek tv cards
